Hampstead School has been having a programme for its Year 10 students. This programme involved the British museum from the 14th of February to the 8th of March; members of Hampstead School’s Year 10s have been going to the British Museum. This programme lasted for 4 weeks. The main goal of this project was to find the link between the students and the various objects within the museum, and to see how this linked with their identities. The first week consisted of the students finding various links between their lives. The links could’ve been anything from favourite foods to TV shows to dislikes and likes.

The other weeks had various other activities such as photography, Photoshop editing and website building. The second week in particular required the students to bring in an object that was special to them and then find an exhibit in the museum that linked to the special object they brought in. The third week then had them editing the photos they took of the exhibits and the objects they brought in and then comparing any links between them. The final week consisted of the students creating their own mini-websites and then uploading all of their information about them.

This programme has been a great opportunity for all of the students involved and has helped them greatly in improving their filmmaking, 3D photography, web design and digital editing skills. The students and teachers who went on this programme thought it was great. This is a quote from one teacher who went: ‘Connecting Hampstead School to real-time industry experts in photography and design through an incredible cultural institution in their borough has been exceptional’.
